Yeah, Pappy. His name was Tom Brennan and his son is Patrick. I met them at a shoot when Patrick was a little boy. When Tom passed Patrick gave me most of Tom's staves which I shared with other of Tom's friends.
 I've been out of touch with bow building the last few years. Hopefully 2022 will get me back in the mood. So far, so good.  :OK

Just found this video a couple of days ago.
Thought those still interested in the various forms of "Elk" might get a kick out of it.

Somewhere around here I have photos I took of a Irish Elk fossil skeleton at the Field Museum in Chicago. A truly awe inspiring sight. Antlers ten + feet across are nothing to sneeze at.
If I find these I'll scan and post them later on.

I thought that was him, thanks and good luck with the stave, I have always had good luck with Elm, mostly winged Elm, just have to make sure it is dry and stays that way through the process ,that was my only problem, it really sucks up the moisture.  :)

I've hit a stopping point. With the crooks and knots I've been having trouble getting this stave to work out and it's just not worthy of using the Norwegian moose sinew. I have a nice osage stave I can use but I have bandsaw blades on order so it might be a while before I get back at it. When I do I'll start another thread.

Sorry to hear it’s not working out Pat. Tuned in late, but was looking forward to learning from your knowledge. Agree it would be a waste to use the moose sinew on a sub-prime stave. Will anxiously wait for your next attempt.
