Ash Flatbow 40# @ 27"

Hi guys!
My latest creation - an ash selfbow drawing 40 lb at 27". The bow is 66" ntn. The stave was naturally shaped into D/R. On upper limb deflex starts in the mid section, on bottom right below the handle. The bow was slightly heat treated. It took around 1" of set. I named it "Moonbeam" and burnt a moon shape as an arrow pass.
You can see how the bow was built here:

All the best!

Nice work! I like the string, what's it made out of?

Nice job. Really miss the big ash trees that use to stand so proud around here.

Thank you guys!
The string is made from natural flax twine.
Bjrogg - are they dying from diseases out there too? In Poland ash trees since a few years are dying and having almost no leaves at all. Wood developed in that time is worthless for bowmaking and very brittle.

Here it is the Emerald Ash Borer. I still have a great number of White Ash trees on my property here in Vermont. We're monitoring locally, and I'm cutting stressed trees to inhibit the progression where possible.
