My Son Built His First Bow, Osage Longbow with Wolf Fish Accents

My son, Ronan started this project with me quite a while ago but lost steam on it. As we prepared to head to the Tennessee Classic in April he finally got a fire under his butt and was determined to finish it so he would have it to shoot with. I gave him as much help as I would give someone taking a bow building workshop with me. He did virtually all of the work himself. I was impressed with his attention to detail. It would have been easy to gloss over the finer points in the effort to finish and have a shooting bow, but he stuck with it and took his time which I think show in the results. A kind gentleman from Sweden sent me a package of assorted Atlantic spotted wolf fish skins to try out. This was our first experiment with them, and I'm pleased with the results. They are very striking. I'll definitely be using them again.
The bow is 60" long and pulls about 25#@26". Right now he's drawing about 24" so he'll have some room to grow into it for a couple years. I'm really proud of the work that he did. It shoots great! He wanted me to post it here so he could enter it into the BOM contest.

Like father like son...
The attention to detail would be outstanding for a long time bow maker, but for a first bow it's even more admirable. Congrats !

Excellent bow, Ronan! Very unique skins too. A real beauty all the way around, even in your excellent workmanship. Keep up the good work.

That’s really cool that your son made such a great looking bow! Good memories built with your son. Ive made knives and other projects and things with my boys and always a great thing to do with your kids. Congrats Ronan on such a beautiful bow!

Now that is a very nice bow
Very well done young man. I bet your Dad is made up with what you have crafted.
The skins are pretty special too and really top off the bow.
Excellent
