What to do!

I have a sugar maple stave enroute and need some ideas as to what design house. I am thinking something on the Meare Heath pattern or perhaps the Sudbury. Thanks for the input.

Never go wrong with a well made pyramid design bow.

True. I like the wide mid-limb, sudbury/meare heath types because I just like the way they look. Certain things in life are nicer to look at if they're a bit curvy.

Either of the 2 you mentioned would be good, Jerry but also a pyramid or semi-pyramid style too.

I dont know about sugar maple but I like doing flatbows, basically, even width till about 6" out then taper in.

Ya, the Sudbury is a pretty bow, and shoot good enough if you are looking for beauty.

I made 5 or 6 Sugar Maple bows a few years ago. Really like the wood. Most of mine were short plains style bows. All of them were sweet shooters. It benefits from a good tempering.

While I’m a big fan of the pyramid design my little Sudbury has become my favorite bow.

I just proceed and let the wood decide. I usually start out with a Meare Heath design but will narrow limbs when they stop responding to wood removal and get too thin. Jawge
