Dying hunting shirt with walnuts
« on: October 05, 2021, 09:15:38 am »
I made this video about dying with black walnuts. I am no expert at the process but it may be of interest to some.
Take care,

that's cool  :OK
you could apply a sort of camo pattern  (branches and leaves) with a brush using the same walnut dye more concentrated.
If you want to preserve the walnut dye I suggest you to add some vinegar. When I made it the dye developed mold quite quickly (maybe it was not concentrated enough)

You can dye them in tea also.

Interesting.  I've read about Robert Rogers and his Rangers wearing green buckskins, and I wonder what they used to dye them.

Nice job Brian, I have a big pan just like that one. :) I did a white wool sweater that I knew i would never wear and it turned out great, more of a grey ish than brown but love the look.

Another good video Brian.

I would think some vinegar in the boiling pot would help set the color.
