Every blurry thing I can see looks like black gum is a great guess, but what is that leaf on the right with a large sinus? It looks like a mulberry leaf. The only things we have here that have a variable number of lobes like that are sassafras and mulberry.
If that is in fact on the same stick that is in your hand then it changes my guess dramatically unless it has some sort of scarring to explain the leaf shape. Are the leaves waxy?
If you're thinking of removing it and can reach a branch to get a good look at the endgrain on a smooth cut of a couple inches in diameter or so, the ID gets easier.
High picture quality helps so much.
I've never had fun with dichotomous keys if I could just get someone to give me positive ID real quick.
The apps aren't there yet. They hit sometimes, but I've seen some silly results, too.
