hickory sinew bow
« on: June 14, 2021, 09:59:44 pm »
will have more specs and photos tomorrow,, but wanted to get started,,
its about 59 nock to nock and pulls about 55 to 60 at 26 inches of draw, shoots nice , holds a bit over inch reflex,,has some nice character,, not a thin layer but,, medium layer of sinew,,
gonna put a handle on it,, but thought it looked nice in its minimal state,,

Very nice, Brad. I did a sinew backed hickory back a few years ago. I did a copy of Jay Massey's Medicine Bow.  I pulled it out of the utility room just the other day. Sinew backed hickory makes a great western bow, a little soft in the east.

its pretty snappy,,465 grain arrow,,181 fps,,
bow is drawing 55 to 60probably 58ish,at 26 inches of draw,,  Ill get a more exact weight,,
just a rough estimate,,its got a fast flight string on it,,
its pretty close to weight and draw of Pats ,, Jay Massey bow,,
Pat said his varied quite  bit in weight, I will be interested to see if this one varies,,
it shoots smooth and nice,, no hand shock,,,
Im gonna put a handle on it,, and maybe artwork,,

Why must we make simple things so complicated?

Nice bow Brad. That's some pretty impressive speed also. Looking forward to seeing the finished bow.
