Thanks guys! It’s a nice shooter! As for the arrow pass, it’s a lot more simpler than it looks, I just used a dremel to drill into the wood and filled it with epoxy resin coloured with charcoal to get the horn look, the “horn” overlays are also made from epoxy resin.

I am more in practised making English longbows and warbows than flatbows, I’m hoping to make a recurved ELB out of some Osage I have which should be fun.  Has anyone came across a recurved ELB before?  Any pointers would be appreciated!

Simple or not it’s gorgeous. I think I’ve seen a few recurved elb’s in the past. They’re generally milder, non-contact curves from what I can remember people making. I don’t think they got them working much but you could probably get them to straighten out. Osage should work well for something like that.

I wouldn't bother with the recurves on an elb. Doesn't work too well....on a shorter bendy handle bow....yes

Man, that bow is beautiful and really comes with impressive specs. Can't stop staring at it - congratulations and thanks for posting. I think I have seen your bows somewhere...maybe at paleo planet? Glad you are back, keep 'em coming!

I have made something elbish with recurves. I did some deflex in the handle. Maybe not doing it too long and it works fine. Main problem to me seemed to get the recurves slim enough to connect to the width-taper of an elb profile; in fact I had the recurves working very well (too good  ) so finally one of them broke at full draw. I was lucky  the break left a large glueing surface so I didnt gave up, glued it with 2k and stabilised it with a linen backing. The curves now work a little less.

That bow has beautiful shape so aesthetically pleasing to the eye ! The exact shape I’ve been thinking about creating, thanks for sharing. I have a nice piece of Osage that I’m debating making it with or a mollegabet style bow.

I used oil paint, thinned with linseed, really earthy colours, raw umber and transparent red oxide!
