Radius, I was referring to the darker-colored, reddish tinged osage which is what your bow appears to be made from unless you have a funky exposure on the pics. The reddish stuff is usually denser and makes a better bow than the light electric-yellow osage. Most people who've worked with a good bit of osage will know what i'm talking about. I've seen some with blood-red streaks through it, looks awesome with a good finish over it.

HIllbilly, this wood definitely has some red streaks in the grain, you're right.  Got it from Pine Hollow (Arkansas, i think)...

  Know what you are talking about Steve. The stave I got from Pappy I made the Plain Jane bow was dark red.
