Length of Fades?
« on: February 22, 2021, 11:02:25 am »
What do people do for the length of their fades at the handle? Do you want longer fades for a thicker handle? Are there drawbacks to having a really short fade? Thanks for any help!

Jon, I don't think so.
I shorten the fades a little for shorter staves.
Typically, I like my staves around 64" and fades 1.5 to 2" for a 26" draw.

Not much functionally different between long or short fades. If they are very long they can work a bit if the taper is gradual. Short fades if not done well can result in a hinge like effect on the limb if the taper isn’t gradual or the limb is bending too close to the fade.
