options for a take down sleeve?
« on: February 03, 2021, 06:20:14 pm »
Right now, the option that I have seen for a takedown sleeve has been 3rivers, are there any other sources or options? I have several shorter staves under 50" that I want to use to make either a takedown or a solid bow with a tube of some sort in the handle.

Hard to beat the simple glass/carbon sleeve.

I think Big Jim or 3Rivers carries the FG sleeve kit.

You can easily just source the materials at any  marine shop or similar.

Big Jim has a good tube video on the glass sleeve build that can be converted to a selfbow. He has kit available but can also pick up supplies at auto supply stores.

Seamless steel tubing, one limb epoxied permanent, other limb waxed inside so epoxy doesn't stick.
