do you mean arrow, like a wood shaft? well, if your speakin of that, i have an arrow that ended up with the skinny end forward and i added a heavy bone point to level out the arrow.

Fat heavy end forward works well.

Like Mark said.
however, I've head that the plains indian tribres used the skinny end forward, and planed the back end down, leaving the nock high. But if you don't want to go to that much work, just do it the other way around.

Yep ! Fat end forward to balance the arrow FOC. That will facilitate good penetration. Frank

you can foot the nock end ,just like you can the point end . Or what I have done a few times is drill out a piece of cane to slip over the nock end ,glue it in place , then shape it to suit ya.

yep, fat and forward. if i had one that was too thin to get a good knock outa then it was too light spined for me any way- Ryan

I like to put the fat end forward if I leave it fat. I often plane down my shoot shafts to a constant diameter.

Yeah, gotta plane mine down too,I just make sure that I keep them a touch weight forward. They fly pretty good even without fletching. Frank
