 I used turkey tail feathers for the first time this winter,soft like goose but very pretty,see how they hold up. Frank

I've used Turkey primaries, secondaries, and tail feathers, as well as goose and peacock primaries.  Most of my arrows are fletched with goose, as they are readily available in my neck of the woods.  I currently have one hunting arrow fletched with barred turkey primaries, and three target arrows fletched with peacock fletchings, which are a nice cinnamon color.  Wild turkey secondaries are excellent for making flu-flu arrows, but they do wear out quickly, so I have started saving all my secondaries, as well as primaries that I 'ruin' by making them too short, for kids arrows.  As soon as I have some time, I'll take a picture of the arrows I recently made for my nephew and post them here, as well as the arrows forum.  They're a mixed bag of peacock, turkey, and goose fletching.

Here's a pic of the Peacock primaries.  They're real sturdy, and real quiet.  Nice feathers!

Goose, duck and turkey so far.  Duck primaries are soft but work well full length for 2-fletch.  I am going to try magnolia leaves next for quicky split-shaft cane arrows.  I am hoping they will work and hold up for 20 shots.  I'll let you know.

  Turkey secondary feathers are excellent for Eastern Woodland two fletch when you use the whole feather.

These were my hunting arrows last year, maple shafts with store-bought turkey feathers that I spliced together.  I have a few birds worth of turkey primaries that I am grinding down for this years arrows.  I love those peackock feathers, how did you aquire them?  I take my son to the Denver Zoo alot, and I see them laying around from time to time, I would love to have a source of those.

 Man Titan, That is a nice lookin' setup.The time I got peacock feathers was down in eastern washington,some guy advertised in the thrift paper that he had a bunch of peacocks and anyone who could catch them ,could have them.I caught two males and still have a bunch of the tail feathers,(I tie flies)but used all the primaries.By the way,them peacocks are tasty birds to boot,I boiled them till tender and made chicken and rice with them. The bow is only 54" long so I guess it looks deceiving.  This bow shoots best with a slightly high brace, about 6.5".  Just over 6" is where most of my other bows seem to shoot best.
