So just finished up this bow and thought I’d show it off. It’s the 5th bow I’ve finished so I’m happy with how it turned out. It started as a hickory heartwood board that I ripped to 1.5” wide. 64” ntn. By design I narrowed the tips more than just a straight taper from mid limb. The tip overlays are buffalo horn with mammoth tusk. The rest is buffalo horn and I inlayed mammoth tusk for the strike plate. Finished with 6 coats of Truoil, sanded and polished with an oil pumice mix. The handle wrap is veg tan leather dyed with mahogany Fiebing’s, glued down (due to the curves from the rest) and laced in the back. The string is 14 strands of B55 and is the first string I’ve ever made that I’ve looked at and said “that’s how a string is supposed to be”. It’s going to be a birthday present for my mom who introduced me to archery with a lemonwood bow from her childhood - I was probably 5 at the time. I tillered it to 38lbs at 28 inches. I decided to tiller it all the way out so anyone else could shoot it as well. Hoping to build on this experience and continue to improve my skills!
