This is the next try with the compression stuff. I still like it. Looking at the pics I'd like to apologize for the tiller - but the bow shot well and I decided to leave it as it is. Again the bow turned out heavy - it's 645 gramms whereas the same model with a yew belly is only 540 gramms. Good thing is, the weight in the center makes it a calm shooter.

nice bows , I like the looks and detailing. (both this one and the one in the other thread)
in the past, confirs have been overlooked for use in bows. Its nice to see you pushing the limits with your designs. I think the community will benefit from your experimental approach to using uncommonly used materials. keep up the good work

This is really cool. Is the wood you Are using from a place without ash borers? I have quite a few on my property but figured they were worthless since even the healthy looking ones have bugs.
Are you concerned about that big knot in the belly?

thanx rakau: i personally didnt notice a difference using edge grain. neither with yew nor compression pine. It just lost glued in reflex - no set at all in the deflex part - never had set there with this design, what i think is one of the great advantages of d/r profiles.
thanx BAfromPA: I've never heard of ash borers being a problem here in europe. sad problem here is a fungus that makes many ash trees die. we have a specific borer killin' us all the elms too
gently scraped the top limb a little - lost one pound but already looks better... I'm almost happy now. will give it another few scrapes, then review again

just curious if you are finding your compression wood at high elevation. Looks like it's cooled off where you are in that last pic.

willie, it's from around 1000masl. it's my new hornbow sneaked into the pic - still need to take some pics...

Simk, Is that new horn bow modeled after the ones that Bow-ed makes? looks damn fine regardless, can't wait to see what else you come up with using this compression wood!
