Elm warbow Oryx 110# 32”
« on: August 27, 2020, 06:21:08 am »
Hello, my friends. From time to time I show up and try to participate bowmaking but seems I should do it more regular.  Nice to see again familiar place and people.  :)

Elm longbow/warbow made off elm sapling. Complete round in the handle. Tiller should be better but it had to go, new owner lost his nervs. 🙄 It is 77”, 820 grams. 1” of deflex, 2” more of set. Small heat corrections. On one picture I draw it to 35” to demonstrate it’s abilities. Numerous knots looks similar as oryx horns so I named it Oryx.

I apologize for this. I am not sure what happened. I tried the same thing like few hours before and now it was successfully.

what a cool piece of wood and work!!!
Why do you draw it that far? I would be very concerned about taking more unnecessary set.

What a cool Bow with an apt name :)
Do you think a tad more bend mid to outer would've helped?

In that first photo I thought it was horn at first.  Gnarly bow!
