Sleek I find the more early wood the more set. I would go with the least amount of early ring that I could get away with. Just an opinion about though.  Arvin

Yes I would certainly try to avoid those close rings for the belly

I would split it right down the middle and make a bow from the interior portion to compare to the theory stave.
