My fastest bow since I bought a chrony anyway!
« on: July 27, 2020, 07:35:38 pm »
Haven't posted lately guys. I've been putting many irons in the fire so to speak. This was a stave that I blanked out and screwed the handle area up so I built another from the leftover veneers I put on my sinew backed bow. These numbers are seemingly fast but the weight checks out.

She has taken about 1/2 inch of set. 64.5 inches nock to nock, 1.25 inches wide at the fade smoothly tapering to 3/8 nocks. It draws 49 lbs at 28 inches and the arrows were 512 grains. I'm really blown away by it.

Nice job! Is this a sinewed bow? I couldn't get that straight. Great numbers no matter what ;D ;D Congratulations :)

No sinew on this one. I have a sinew backed bow made for the bow trade. It's not as awesome as this one but it performs well

What kind of wood is it? Is it backed? I need more info. It seems very fast for what I've come to expect a profile can deliver. I've had to have lots of reflex but you don't seem to have much. I'm intrigued :D.

DC, it's not backed. It's some of the densest osage I've ever seen.

Fastest selfbow I've ever seen ;D

I'm pretty sure Badger hit 207 on one of his bows. Other than that, I dont think i have seen a faster bow at 10gpp at 28".

Extremely good numbers! Did the bow take 1/2" set from it's starting profile before tillering? If so I can see where that could put the bow into the mid 180's. Typically I would expect to see maybe mid 170's from that profile. Have you perfected a snap shooting technique?

Real good numbers!!!! That profile with 1/2” set should be fast in my opinion. What’s the mass weight? Was the set at fade to mid-limb?
