I read that a few days ago and was fascinated by it. I immediately reached out to the Choctaw nation to get access to it soon as its able to be handled and my goal is to make as exact replica of it.  Im going to give that replica to the Choctaw nation.

Wow, that's cool - thanks for the link!  (I get pretty excited when I find an arrowhead...seeing a bow sticking out of the mud would probably induce a heart attack!)

Considering its location,  probably osage.

That is a real neat find!  Hopefully, the specs are released, including the wood.  Hickory, Osage, possibly sassafras or persimmon in that area.  I would be interested in making a replica!

Its only 42 inches long. Not very wide. Gadda be osage, or a child's bow, or something ceremonial.

Have they conclusively determined it's actually a Choctaw bow?

I don't know if osage was growing in Mississippi 300 to 500 years ago.

Wasn't osage spread by the mastodon and wooly mammoth? I'm pretty certain they had it down there.
