Del thought I might enjoy working with some flawless timber. I've never actually used flawless wood, so this was a first!  Del sent me this length of walnut, slightly deflexed in one limb, already thickness tapered. So far I have given it a slight temper and cut in the width taper and rounded over the edges a little. That's it. Cheers Del! Taken it to 10 inches on a long string hanging 2 inches, some tweaking needed but not really very much

Looking good.
It'll be interesting to see what it does as it's edge grain Walnut from a tree that was all sapwood.
You are being the guinea pig  ;D
If it works I'll be making the bigger bits into bows in January
Hope it works for you, or at least provides some useful data  :)

One suggestion I might make is to pay attention to the mass weight of the bow as it relates to your design and desired draw weight. Walnut can make some really nice bows but it doesn't like to be overstressed. If you tell me the desired draw weight and draw length along with the length of the bow I can give you a pretty good idea what the mass weight of the bow should be.

target draw weight is 50lb at 9.5 inches. There is 1/4 inch of deflex
