Yew sinew sturgeon?

56" yew D bow 40-45 # goal
Slight natural reflex outer thirds
1-1/2" fades to 3/4" outer taper to 1/2" tips
Gonna get sturgeon backing
Any advantage to sinew ya think?

I've never used sturgeon  skins but with snake skins and rawhide I use hide glue anymore. For me it works best.

By D bow do you mean bendy handle? If so the sturgeon skin may give you enough protection for up to 28" draw..

I agree with Pat. If its a true bend through the handle bow drawing 28" the sturgeon should be plenty of protection by itself. In fact it would likely be fine as a selfbow from a durability standpoint. Sturgeon skin is incredibly tough. better than rawhide, in my opinion.

Yep. That's my opinion too. Better than rawhide. I degrease and use hide glue, but I suspect Knox would work.

I put sturgeon over sinew on a short osage recurve once. Redundant, but I did it more for aestetics. Still shot with good cast, killed a nice buck with it.
