Stickmark- it sure does, grew up near Macon, MO and not long who moved to Holts Summit.
Timbo- this one isn’t, it’s from a small diameter tree I cut a few years ago. I did use one picci if the hackberry for corner posts on a bed frame, it worked real well for that, and showed that it’s still a bit wet. The ends cracked a little when I cut the pieces to length. I’m probably gonna start on a piece or two from that tree this fall. And once the staves ate a bit more dry I’m goin the saw the most straight and clean ones into laminations for backing. I’m real curious to see how hackberry will work as a backing. I’m a big fan of how those arrows tuned out. And those snake skins were much easier to work with than I expected. Soak the hide, cut to the lengths I want, square up one edge, dab a little glue where I want the skins, roll on the skin and trim when wrapped, then I wrapped the skins with fishing line to hold them down while they dried.
