Filling cracks

Whenever I try to fill a crack by mixing glue(CA in this case) with sawdust the result is always darker than the parent wood. Like if I'm trying to fill a really crummy glue line between bamboo and yew(hypothetical of course, it would never happen to me ) and I used bamboo or yew sanding dust I get a glue line that looks more like Black Walnut. Is it the glue? I think epoxy does the same thing. How do you guys match the colour a bit better?

Well Innocent if it holds together and shoots good quit worrying or paint it.😁😁

As i think it Anny kind of Saw dust Will work try a lighter collored Saw dust than the actual wood (bow Wood species to play safe)

Any glue will darken the saw dust darker than the parent wood, Ricardo’s suggestion sounds like your best bet to me.

Glue makes wood react quite like it does when you wet it or put a finish on.  You'd have to  go several shades lighter to make it less visible.

You might try  to fill It and then whipe White ashes over the still wet glue, dont know hoe that turns out but It Just came up in my mind

Super glue and sawdust always turns dark, if you have noticed the smoke coming off it there is a pretty significant chemical reaction going on.

Just the glue or do you mix sanding dust with it?

DC, the only time I use saw dust in cracks is if they are extensive. Otherwise I just fill the crack with super glue and they always come out darker than the surrounding wood. IMO, it's part of the character.

Yeah this one was about the worst glue joint I've had. I was quite close to heating it apart but was too impatient to get on with it.

Sawdust on top last then sand it smooth after it dries.  Not perfect but much better. I slide my finger perpendicular to the line as the pva gets tacky. I’m forcing it into the crack then push in some very fine dust. When it’s completely dry I sand it.

Mid limb. I filled it almost full with CA and dust and then I mixed dust and ModPodge for the last cosmetic part. It ain't great but it doesn't jump out at you any more.
