Rawhide backed Black Locust Shortbow
« on: March 31, 2022, 08:03:01 am »
My latest creation. The bow is drawing 35 lb at 23", 45,5" ntn. At widest limbs are 2 1/4". I backed it with cow rawhide. Had to thin and sand it a bit. To glue the backing I used hide glue. At rest the bow comes back to slight reflex.
Building this stick I was inspired by American Natives bows.

Check out also build along video:

Hope you have a nice day!

Nicely executed.  Authentic little bow.  Well done.

Thank you very much guys!

The bowstring is made from flax twine in flemish style. In the pictures it's before serving.
