Bark on or off to season? I’m guessing it’s like apple and will check.

Crab apple and apple like to check if not sealed. Either leave the bark on or give the back at least 2 heavy coats of PVA. They also like to check if left in the round rather than split into sections.

Some saplings will get bad prop twist as they dry.At least mine did.
