4" only 4" ends I found were pvc.  Also, should there be an escape on top for air?

if it is a steaming set up you could turn some blocks of wood for a tight fit in the ends, thats what i did.

just make the "door" side a little loose or turn a short taper on it.

You don't want a "sealed up" steam chest there should be lots of flow. A balled up rag is good for closing off the ends. Not tight.

I have a steam tube similar to that I just use duct tape to make end vents like DC said you need lots of flow other wise just a bunch of moister on the stave it won't get over 212 Deg so duct tape is no issue !
If you fear failure you will never Try !

Thanks guys.  A balled up towel seems like easiest to do. Should I drill a couple holes in top?

Here is my steam set up.  I do one limb at a time.  I use a wallpaper steamer which works very nicely.   Fill it up and plug it in.  No worries about burning the wood.  I drilled some holes in the bottom to let the condensation drain out.  I made a rubber seal to slide the bow through.  That way I don't have to worry about taking rags or foil.

Ends with 1/2 bath towel steam rolling pretty good.
