Custom rifle sstock-how
« on: April 24, 2020, 04:01:10 pm »
Purely an idle question, anyone know how to make the hardware for an adjustable comb and adustable butt-plate.  I once fancied making a left hand stock for my right-hand air rifle and one of the things that stopped me was sourcing/making the hardware

Yes! You can do it a few ways:
1. The hardware is readily available from "Brownells" to do both, not cheap.
2. You can make both by using steel rod and locking collets. Remove the comb, drill the stock and comb for the rod. inset the collet and drill holes for the hex locking screw. I always used fiberglass bedding to connect the rod and collar into the wood.
3. Adjustable with a finger wheel is the same as above, just use threaded rod and finger wheels in addition to the locking collar. All of the parts can be sourced from "McMaster Carr" website.

If you'd like a detailed rundown PM me your email address. I did a gracious plenty of both back in the day. We made all the pieces in the machine shop but you can buy most of it ready made. The kits out there are really good but they aren't cheap.
