Murphy's law, spring turkey edition
« on: April 19, 2020, 01:04:36 pm »
I was out at our property yesterday evening, scouting for turkeys and hickory to cut and just generally enjoying the spring weather.  I was contemplating one especially promising tree, talking to myself at sort of a low conversational volume (mmm...nice and straight, no knots, but how is it going to fall?).  The dog was watching me stoically, probably thinking "If you like that tree so much, just pee on it already so we can move on".  I turned around and saw two BIG gobblers just moseying along about 10-12 yards away.  It was a bit windy, so I guess they didn't notice my monologue...or maybe they know the season doesn't start until Monday.  Anyway, they decided something was not quite right, casually changed direction, wandered out into the field, and melted away.  Does this ever happen to me during the season?  No...no, it does not.
