Here's something some of you might get a kick out of: Working mini-catapults made from popsicle sticks, hot glue, and string. I did it with fifth and sixth graders a few years back, so they're fairly simple, but easy to modify and tweak for better performance. Maybe a way to kill some time while locked up. Enjoy.

(if you can open the instructions in google docs, the wonky formatting clears up and they're a lot easier to read)
