Nice... Lovely wood to work Elder. I like the subtle figure on the side of the limb at the tip.
I find it difficult to find a long straight bit that's thick enough round here.
Have you tried rubbing garlic on the warts to get rid of 'em?
Del
Yep, most of them are twisted like hell. This one was an exceptional. I will try that garlic thing - if the bow gets stinky you have to visit for cleaning her up!
that's a lovely bow Simon, out of curiosity, how mich reflex did the stave have prior to tillering?
Lost 1.5" during tillering, this wood has a tendancy to set. That's the reason why I went with 26" drawlength.
That΄s a very nice "Holler" bow and the draw curve is very good too!
I΄ve got a question about the wood. I΄ve heard that elder doesn΄t steam bend well. Someone told me that it jumps back after unclambing. What are your experiences there?
lonbow
sevus, I don't steam with the pan&foil method. IMO a steamer works better (highre temp, and better control), I've built two. One out of 'Einweckautomat' and some pvc pipes. So maybe it's my equipment, I cannot say having problems. But I haven't made sharp bendings, like for statics so far on this wood.
Dude your work is amazing. That tiller is flawless
Tried to hit the circle on this one ...
Thanks for your nice words Gents!
