boo backed ipe molly#36@26''
« on: March 31, 2020, 03:16:06 am »
Hi guys,

This is the second bow I made for my friend. A mollegabet style bamboo backed ipe. The bamboo I used for this bow is quite special - it was taken from the frame of a 150plus-year-old house in the mountains of southern China. Local people used to use bamboos to build roof frames in the past. This particular bamboo has been smoked for decades through people cooking and smoking meat inside the house. The smoking process not only gives the bamboo extra performance but also polishes a beautiful deep rich brown to blackish color to its surface.

The bow shoots great and my friend loves it.

- Bamboo backed ipe molly

- Cut in shelf with a piece of water buffalo horn glued on, in order to make the arrow rest a little wider

- Wood combination tip overlay

- 64 inches TTT

-#36@26"

- BCY-D97 14 strands

Thanks,
Li

Another beautiful bow, Li. The colors are incredible. I guess the smoke has protected the boo from insects and fungi. 150 years of tempering must really make a difference.
I hope you and your family and friends are staying healthy.

another most excellent bow... your craftsmanship is to be admired.  It's amazing when I think about how it was such a short time ago that you were attending events like MoJam and making your first bows... awesome.   :OK
Seems like common sense isn't very common any more...
