They were doing some work inside the Church steeple where I work. They had to remove some boards and these were headed for the dumpster. I grabbed them before they went in. 2 inch thick, 12 inch wide. I cleaned off 160 plus years worth of dirt and this is what was under it. Rough cut (saw blade marks are visible) and a few square nails here and there. Not sure what type of wood? Maybe chestnut or pine? My plan is to square them up and make a couple of shelves for the cabin (need to find some old metal shelf brackets now). Unfortunately they cut it in half and the other boards were thrown out the previous day and the dumpster was emptied.
