Black Powder Group Raffle Bow
« on: March 15, 2020, 08:52:38 pm »
This is a bow and arrow set that I made for my black powder club (Forest Hills Black Powder Brigade). The set will be raffled off at our next Mountain Man Rendezvous (assuming we can hold it this year  :(). It is made from some yew wood that one of the members gifted to me. Tip overlays are buffalo horn, the handle wrap is natural elk hide and the bow is backed with rawhide. The arrows are made from hand tapered Douglas fir shafts. They have hardwood nocks and the leading edge of the fletching is secured with sinew. There is no arrow rest because the set was made to be rendezvous competition legal. The quiver in the picture is made by Ron York. Sorry, I don't have a full draw pic.

The words that comes to mind are excellent craftsmanship. The winner of that raffle should be mighty pleased.

Very nice set!  Congratulations you and Ron York!  That should bring in some funds!  Btw, where is your brigade located?  We(Buckhorn Skinners) are in Loveland, Colorado.  Our "Squirrel Shoot" is 24,25,26 April. Pending health concerns of course.  I will post it in Events thread.
