Allyn, leave the nock area a good inch wide for now and the handle area full width. Enjoy the journey. Jawge

allyn,

How do you plan to reduce your staves?

I plan on using a draw knife as of right now. I might try a circle saw to cut out some of the heart wood from the limbs to see if I can make some self arrows. Otherwise all those shavings will just be tinder from my fire pit.

Allyn,
I find stave reduction to be easiest when green, and with drawknives and spoke shaves, but green is not so friendly with skill saws or rasps.

do you have access to a bandsaw?
