About 1/4 way through chasing. Goes a little slower when you got three munchkins each wanting to take turns and cycling out.  Lot of fun though. Kids swept up the scrapings for fire starting.

Pure poetry....watching dead wood give birth to something so lively in the hands. The smell of toasted osage, the crunch of the knife, even the accelerated heartbeat from the work and the sheer excitement of it. It's like coffee in the morning. I just need it

Ring is chased... I made it all the way 67 1/4 inches until the last centimeter lol. Nicked it going the other way trying to shore up a pin knot. Rings are really pretty thin on the stave so I am going to back it for sure with rawhide. Just to give it a bit more durability in the woods.  Despite the thinness this piece of Osage has the hardest wood that I have seen on a piece of Osage (only seen a few lol noob) and the chase was easy and only took about 3 hours total.  I have some pin knots to clean up in little bit of pith to take care of but other than that I'm starting to think about bow layout.  Those pretty straight for the most part until about the last 9" of one side propellers pretty good. I have a short draw so there's nothing against just cutting it off and making it easy on myself for my 1st hopefully successful attempt right?. My draw is only 26 inch and to cut it completely out I'd end up with a 56 incher or so. Thoughts??  Otherwise I'm gonna need to take put the twist at some point.
