I've heard of some bows being backed with linen. I assume that's just for safety, not for performance, correct?Also, I have a really cool piece of tartan fabric--Weathered Gunn, my ancestral tartan and pretty good camo, too--on the way. It's 8 oz worsted wool. How would something like that work as a backing?

that wool might not be good for backing, but if you have enough, it would be a nifty kilt, or hunting shirt! Don't know enough about backing to help on that, though. Hawkdancer
