Thanks again. I should have mentioned in the one picture is the top split from the stave I used. I dont think the check was from the stave not being dry, but from asking for too much bend sideways in such a thick area.

I got 2 checks because i didn't seal my stave fast enough. their wide enough apart to just slip the tip in between!

I think doing something to keep water out of the check,,,in hunting conditions would be good...
