So I have a 60” hackberry stave ive managed to get a good belly split off of and experiment with. Anyways I filleted to about 50 @28” and then I reflexed the ever loving crap out of it. And now I intend on sinew backing after heat treating. My question is how much weight gain can I expect to gain from about 3 layers of elk sinew that’s combed out and then applied. As for the amount of reflex and recurve think 5 in contact recurve with about the same amount of reflex as a tartar horn bow unstrung.

Too much reflex usually equates to too much set, sinew will hide a lot of the set and still give you good performance. I think you will gain maybe 15# or so but then as you approach full draw you will most likely loose a lot of that to set.
