New guy checking in!
« on: April 16, 2008, 01:32:37 pm »
I'm new to this forum and would just like to say hello.  I have been shooting traditional for 10 years.  Made my first and only selfbow in 1998.  Have attempted about 10 laminated wood bows and wound up with one early sucess, three kids bows, and my latest bamboo backed ipe was my best yet.  I have really enjoyed reading all the good info on here.  I am a member of half a dozen different forums all under the same or very similar handle.   I am about to order enough supplies to keep my busy for a while.  I am really enjoyed the bamboo backed bows though.  Here are a few pics of my last bow.

Welcome,
When I first looked at the braced picture I thought you were using huge nocking points before realising they were cabinet door knobs.
 ;D ;D ;D
They aren't nocking points are they?!
Looks like a really nice finish on the bow. Is that Ipe as the nock or another material? What is the finish? Looks glossy but not too plastic.

That is a pretty cool looking finish.  How about showing us a full draw picture.  ;D Justin

That is ipe for the tips.  I said it was my best yet, and it is, but the tiller isn't perfect.  Here she is at full draw.  She is 66" NTN.

The finish is Minwax spray laquer.  The stain for the boo is Tandy leather stain.  I started with green and finished over that with chocolate.
