Hickory sapling bow

This one’s from a hickory sapling, I think shellbark. Still has the pith. 60” ntn, 37# at 28” after three or four hundred shots. 452 g in total. Lost 3 pounds shooting in from the original 40 and finally seems stable. I recurved with dry heat since this was a thin piece and hollowed the limbs since the sides were getting thin. They flatten somewhat during the draw but far from all the way. Finish is rubbed charcoal with a shellac seal coat, then layered tung oil. There’s hickory husk dye on the cambium so it jumps. Overlays are horn and the arrow pass is birch bark

Well, it looks like it need a little more bending out of the fades, especially the lower limb.

I agree about the tiller eric, it could use some more finesse. Thanks for the criticism, I really need that kind of advice. I’m just glad it doesn’t vibrate much anymore. This was an elbow buster until the last 50 scrapes when the clouds parted. The original stave had very different reflex in the limbs and it took a lot of wresting with to get even. At some points I overshot the corrections and at others the original profile would creep back in. At least things seem stable for now
