Natives using Sugar maple???

Did the native Americans ever use sugar maple for bows? Anyone have any examples?

Jake, I'd imagine that Native Americans used any available to them but I have no example or proof. I've seen a few whitewood bows in museums identified as white wood bows that could have been sugar (hard) maple.

It's a very common wood in the east. If we figured out that it's a good bow wood it stands to reason that they did too.
