Simple Bow White Oak 50#@28" 62"ntn
« on: August 28, 2019, 03:45:38 pm »
This is the bow that I overdrew on the tiller accidentally. I got it finished up after heat treating the belly and shortening the bow. I ended up getting 50# after the heat treat and cutting off 2" all together also increased the set to 1.5" from 1" but I am okay with that. It is a good shooter and my first completed bow since the layoff. Also the tiller could have been better.

Looks pretty good. We need the FD pic. :) It looks like your corners could be rounded more but that could just be shadows.

top limb is stiff outer 3rd which makes sense cause it took 1.5 while the bottom took 1 of set. I rushed the bow but I got more out of it then I expected so it ok. I could re tiller and fix it but it shoots fine. I just need a couple more to remove this bow making rust. I also want to start making arrows for my bows something I never used to do.

I think you did well. tiller can always be "better", but that's just relative to every bow. If it's shootin good and not walking around on ya, then shes just fine

I’ve never named any of my bows. I can never think of anything good.

How about Fred?  Or Ralph?  Maybe Bob, cause you bobbed off the ends?

I agree with Ryan. That tiller looks pretty good to me. Enjoy your bow. Look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for looking guys I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I always seem to Want to find an issue with the bows I build. I need to try to enjoy them for what they are and use them more.
