bow backing and basket weaving

Have a look at this basket weaving video

at around min 2 the man process bamboo to make weaving strips
seems also a very fast way to obtain a uniform backing strip for bow

also look at around min 36.20 how he bends bamboo to make a rake

That looks too easy, there must be a catch :D. His strips are quite narrow, too narrow for bows. I wonder if it would work with a wider/higher crown?

Years ago I read an article about a guy that backed a bow with slats from bamboo shades. It was narrow strips that he laid next to each other on the bow's back. Lengthwise strips of boo will work but the weave would just add extra physical weight and wouldn't give good tension because the weave doesn't lay flat on the back.

Pat I wont suggest to weave
the video is interesting for the technique used to obtain the strips
