It is hard to find a good source for sinew. My friend butchered deer until three years ago,so I had a good supply back then. Not anymore. Back then I sinew backed Osage, Black Locust, Elm, Hickory, American Horn beam, and even tried Walnut. Now ,when I do build a bow it is  longer self bows.  The same woods, but 58 to 63 inches long with my short draw.

Nice job, the grand son should love that, wished I had a grand dad that made me bows when I was a kid. :)

Thanks Pappy. We lived in different times back then. Most of us were just glad to have the necessaries. My first bow was a hand me down fiberglass bow.To me back then it was priceless. I know you could tell the same kind of stories as well as many others on here.
