Tropical wood moisture content
« on: July 31, 2019, 02:27:12 am »
I have some lemonwood/Degame I brought back from Cuba 6 months or so back.
It’s been shellacked and drying in the attic ever since. What am I looking for on my moisture meter before I get into it?

9% to 11%
I think I would take it down to floor tiller stage before testing the M/C but give it a while after reducing it before testing.

Thanks Pat. Would you go ahead and do it now? I also have to splice it if that makes a difference.

Yes, you can take it down to floor tiller stage without stressing the bow. That will remove lots of the mass so less moisture to eliminate.
