Measuring tiller

Anyone on here ever use a carpenter's square to measure tiller?

I've never tried it but haven't needed to. If it works you then that's all that matters.

I have used a framing square in various ways.  Getting good brace profile mostly.

I use a gizmo to tiller limbs so I know the limbs are bending correctly. The only measurement I take is to measure the distance from the string to the belly 12" in from the tips on both limbs. Shooting split finger I need the top limb to be slightly positive, usually 3/16", this measurement tells me how far I am off and which limb to adjust.

When I made alot of board bows ,yes I would measure height distances to compare at brace.
