Will uneven recurved tips affect performance?
« on: July 03, 2019, 08:06:28 pm »
I am working on a laminate bow, and my recurved tips didn't end up matching very well.  One is a pretty short, sharp hook, the other not so much.  It's a little late to be altering them now, and I'm just wondering if I should expect to notice any decrease in performance?

You may not notice. I do this on purpose sometimes to balance out the tiller. The shorter recurve will be stiffer.

I think you'll find it's a design feature deliberately introduced to counteract the asymmetry inherent in any bow where the hand is below the point where the string is drawn  ;) ;D >:D
On no account admit to it being an error  ;D

Well the bow hasn't been tillered out yet, so I suppose any slight difference could be adjusted with the tiller.   So that brings me to my next question,  sharp hook on the top limb, or bottom?
