New To Knapping and from NC

Hello everyone,
  I live in central NC and I have just begun my primitive journey. After doing some research I have pretty much found out that NC is a bit slack in the materials needed for Knapping. But then again from what I have found so far every thing I have read is from 5 years ago or more. Which leads me to my Question does anyone have a good source for material (on free land)?

I find myself in central NC on the occasion. I live ( I use that word loosely ) just a bit north of New Bern. Good to meet another NC dude on here. Honestly, my dad grew up in the hills out there, and used to tell me about the quartz points he would find. Very little other rock, and I'd imagine, the other points he found were imported rock.

Yeah, I think you are talking quartzite in your region, if found.

My advice...bite the bullet and order Georgetown to learn on.  It let's you know very clearly what's going on with your technique as it's very uniform in texture and isn't glass.

Welcome to knapping.  Time for me to pick some stone back up soon...

Thank y’all. I’m on my way down to GA this weekend so I will look around on the way home but if any one has some good areas to look I would appreciate it

If you are in Georgia go to Flint River around Albany and get some good rock.
