thanks
I slow mo videoed the flutes releasing but it was too fast for the camera to capture. It shows a violent explosion upon release and you see shrapnel flying out from it but the flute comes off so incredibly fast that you just don't see it happening at all.
I also see a sharp kick back when the flute releases and anything setting on the base of the jig gets bounced up in the air about 3/16" high. I never would have thought that was happening and it seems like it could be what causes some points to break in the middle after the flute has already gone to the tip because the force that causes things to bounce has to be going back up through the tip of the point where it rests on the antler anvil piece. By then the resistance is the clamp arms which are still bearing the weight of me sitting on them and it has to be bouncing the point, clamp arms, and me too when it bounces the base of the jig like it does.
I really neeed to learn to edit videos where I can crop them and blend multiples together to form a collage of flute channel releases.
