Fades,Dips and Grips

I decided to make the handle a little shorter on this one and now I need a little advice. Where can I start narrowing it in width for the grip? I'm thinking I could go out as far as the 3" and 9" marks. I probably won't go that far but it got me too wondering just how far out I can go. Would the absolute maximum be where the fades start to thicken? Whaddaya think? I'll go have my nap and check back in a while

Don't know for sure. But 41/2 -81/2 narrowing for a arrow rest but no where near cut to center would be my guess. Arvin

How long is the bow?
On a full length longbow my fades are 4” long. Looks smooth. But the handle is 4” as well so idk maybe make your fades 3” and see how it looks.🤷🏼♂️😎

What I was after was where do I narrow it in width. If I go out to far it will weaken the bow.

You’ll have to be more specific......

I start narrowing mine right where the fades begin. Where the fades get thicker the grip gets narrower. The only exception would be when I’m cutting a shelf in. I will leave the top wide to accommodate the shelf.

I'd probably start to narrow it gradually right where you said. Maybe 3 1/4" narrow it up gradually and and then feather it out ending at 9".
